In 2010 I started to make first inquiries for another monster project: building a clone of a legend, the famous Moog modular. Since I got a rather good copy of a Moog modular service manual I thought about that, how it would be...
As I am already an owner of a big analogue modular monster one might ask, why the hell another one, but to study the Moog technology is a joy, and the Moog modules show the basics and principles of all modules and modulars which came later, and I wanted to learn what is really necessary to implement this or that modular function, what is the basic technology behind it without using OpAmps, OTAs or ICs. Some of the circuits are totally free of OpAmps, just transistor technology, and they do the same as the IC crowded "modern" module implementations, sometimes even better.
And not to forget the unique sound of Moog systems which is the result of all that.
So I started analyzing, building, soldering, and here is the result, again in diary form. Happy reading...
